Presidents Report

From "On Common Ground" Issue 30/2010 (May)

Hi All

Well we are full steam ahead into 2010 and the events just seem to be approaching rapidly. Our annual Golf Day was recently held at Strathfield Golf Club where some 80 odd people enjoyed great weather and a very relaxed day of Golf. Our thanks to Dave McGlynn and his crew for offering a very well presented Golf course, the weather gods have certainly been on our side.

The Turf 10 Conference, Expo & Race Day has been run and won and what a big event it was. It was is a great opportunity for all industry associates to come together for what was a rather different aray of presentations , demos and social agendas. This event has the potential to offer Sydney something big for now and the future.

Good luck to all of you who are preparing there various surfaces for the onslaught of winter sport, long summer months repairing and renovating in preparation for another seasons battle with the winter codes.

TGAA Canberra held a Golf day recently at Gold Creek in the ACT, where several people from Sydney attended, to Scott Harris and his crew that course was in amazing condition. The program they have been on to transition there fairways to couch has been great success, as good as seen anywhere.

Whilst in the ACT I visited Bruce Stadium, that sports ground has got to be the best in the world there was not a divot in the surface. It is proudly presented by the elusive Canberra curator.

Our STA 2010 Calendar has proved to be quite the discussion point, after all it does say ‘men of turf’. All in all it was meant to be a bit of fun and was! End of story. Can’t wait for next years!

Be positive, do your best and hope to see you soon.
