Control of Plague Locusts on Turf.
As you would be aware, we are expecting a severe locust plague west of the mountains in NSW this year. I&I NSW field staff have advised that locusts will target turf in the towns, as well as agricultural crops outside the towns.
The APVMA have issued the attached permit to I&I NSW to allow turf managers to spray for locusts. The permit should be used in conjunction with the product label. Turf managers are advised to ensure they have sufficient supplies of the insecticides included on the attached permit well in advance of the spring outbreak.
Information on locust hatchings, areas likely to be affected, the locust life cycle and the best time to spray locusts can be viewed or downloaded on the I&I NSW website, www.dpi.nsw.gov.au, under 'plague locusts' on the home page.

Any questions from turf managers about locust control during the plague should be directed to their local LHPA - see below.
